At the invitation of the Churches’ Council of Ramallah, Dr. Geries S. Khoury presented his research work on: “Book of Evidence on Confirming Faith” written by Sophronius Patriarch of Jerusalem. He wrote a part of it on his life, works and Omar’s Covenant. The book was published by Al-Liqa’ Center. This presentation took place at on Thursday 26 March 2015 at the Melkite Catholic Hall, Ramallah. Fr. ‘Abdallah Julio moderated this event.
Dr. Khoury stressed the importance of this work in light of ‘Omar’s Covenant and the judicious stands of Patriarch Sophronius and Caliph ‘Omar Ibn Al-Khattab in preserving the continuity of the Church of Jerusalem and Christian holy places. Both laid the foundation for Muslim-Christian dialogue.
Dr. Geries compared the times of ‘Omar’s Covenant with the present where killing and terrorism in the name of Islam is carried out despite that Islam is totally innocent from them.
