Shared Living in Palestine

At the invitation of Dr. Charlie Abu Sa’da of World Vision, Mr. Mousa Darwish and Dr. Geries S. Khoury of Al-Liqa’ met at 8:30 p.m. a group from World Vision who came from Austria, New Zealand and other countries. Both spoke about the experience of Al-Liqa’ Center in interfaith dialogue between Muslims and Christians in the Holy Land since 1982 to the present. The group was very much interested in topic discussed and asked many question. Both Mr. Darwish and Dr. Khoury stressed the importance of education and mass media. Both added that the dialogue must take into account the cultural context in which a Muslim and Christian live. Hopefully, world interfaith dialogue should take the local experience on dialogue into consideration and to exchange local experience so we can learn from each other. Both stressed the fact that generalization and pre-conceived ideas can be detrimental to interfaith dialogue, and that ignorance is the enemy of religious dialogue. We have to be careful when we enter the process of dialogue.
