The study day on “Arab Christian Heritage in the Holy Land” was attended by members of the diplomatic service, Church organizations, NGO’S representatives and expatriates. The main aim of it is to inform and familiarize them with the Christian Arab Heritage in Palestine. Group members were welcomed on behalf of H.B. Michael Sabbah, President of the Board of Trustees of Al-Liqa’, and members of the Board, by Dr. Adnan Musallam and Dr. Geries S. Khoury who spoke as well about the importance of this study day and the common search for ways to protect this Heritage.
Several lectures were presented. Fr. Dr. Gianmaria Giannaza focused on the” Arab Christian Heritage and its characteristics”. While Fr. Dr. Louis Hazboun’s lecture revolved around “Palestine’s Monasteries and their role in furthering Christian Arab Heritage”. Fr. Dr. Rafiq Khoury spoke on the role of ecumenical movement on this Heritage while Dr. Geries S. Khoury focused on Christian – Muslim dialogue in this Heritage. The last lecture was on “Arab Christians in Arab countries” which was delivered by Dr. Bernard Sabella.
The Study Day was moderated by former Palestinian ambassador to France, Mrs. Hind Khoury, and educator Mrs. Sima Ghawali.
Discussion and a question and an answer session followed. Dr. Geries Khoury, in addition, summarized the proceedings of the study day. All study day attendees were invited for lunch.
