Al-Liqa’ Center’s Board of Trustees Meeting

Present: H. E. Bishop Atallah Hanna, Mr. Mousa Darwish, Mr. Lawrence Sammour, Doctor Peter Qumri, Prof. ‘Abd Al-Rahman ‘Abbad, Dr. Adnan Musallam, Dr. Geries S. Khoury

Apologized: Fr. Dr. Rafiq Khoury, H. E. Patriarch Michael Sabbah, Prof. Thiab Ayyoush, Miss Makarem Awad and Mrs Hanadi Soudah

The Board met to discuss future programs of the Center. Dr. Khoury thanked all Board members for their continuous support and exertion of efforts to make the various Al-Liqa’s programs successful. The 2013-2014 two annual conferences were characterized by seriousness success and the importance of subjects discussed as well as the presence of various sectors from different parts of Palestine.

Dr. Khoury then focused on the 2014 shared living program with the Sabeel Center in Jerusalem. These will be programs in the American University in Jenin, Hebron University, Zababdeh City and a panel which will be followed with a joint Ramadan Iftar dinner. In addition, there will be a new publication of the shared living program titled: “Peaceful Resistance in Islam and Christianity” which is the proceedings of the joint conference in 2013.

Dr. Khoury added that Al-Liqa’s upcoming activity will take place in Bethlehem on 8 March 2014 and in which two panels from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. will focus on “From the pilgrimage of Pope Paul VI to Pope Francis to the Holy Land”. In this occasion will be a presentation of a unique book titled: “Fifty Years on the visit of Pope Paul VI to the Holy Land”, compiled by Fr. Dr. Rif’at Bader and published by the Catholic Information Center, Amman.

Following the meeting Board members and other friends of Al-Liqa’ visited H. E. Brigader Isma’il Farraj to congratulate him on his promotion and appointment as president of the Military Tribunal. H. E. Bishop Atallah Hanna spoke on behalf of the Board and Friends of Al-Liqa’ and kindly asked Brigader Farraj to continue to be in touch with the Center and support it as in the past.
