Dr. Geries S. Khoury participated in Kairos Palestine conference in the occasion of its sixth year and he lectured at the conference focusing in the process on “The Jewishness of the State: Its Meaning and Repercussions”. He stressed the negative aspects of the “Jewishness of the State” from a religious point of view. Dr. Khoury pointed out the bases of Hebrew law and problems one finds in the Old Testament. And more problematic one finds in the Books of Talmud and the Mishnah and their aggressive stand toward non-Jews including negative teachings toward Christianity and the persons of Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ.
Dr. Khoury, likewise, focused on the negative and dangerous of religious teachings that are being put forth by Jewish Rabbis against Palestinian and Arabs in general.
Dr. Khoury added that the gravity lies in those who will promulgate laws and who will give the interpretations of the so many teachings and biblical verses. This is because of the multi-religious and different groups among the Jewish community who differs between themselves on many interpretations of religious issues.
In conclusion, Dr. Khoury demanded that our schools and universities should teach Jewish Talmud and Halakha so we can learn about these teachings and confront such racist sources.
Dr. Khoury gave many examples in his power point presentation from the Talmud and from the Torah.
