A distinguished cultural evening was held in Fassouta to launch two books that were published by Al-Liqa’:
1. “Christian Presence in the Arab East: Past, Present and Future” by Fr. Dr. Rafiq Khoury
2. “Book of Evidence on Confirming Faith” Sophronius Patriarch of Jerusalem, His life, Works and Omar’s Covenant, by Dr. Geries S. Khoury
The Parish priest Fr. Mikhael ‘Assi, welcomed all those attending this distinguished evening and introduced Fr. Rafiq and Dr. Geries. Those attending the cultural events were impressed and the authors stressed the dire need to examine further Christian roots in the East.
Both authors stressed the need to know each other and to be open for a sincere dialogue and for knowing the others faith and religious heritage. They also spoke about the religious discourse and the urgency to add materials at the curriculum in our schools on Arab Christians and their rich cultural contribution.
