Leading Christian and Muslim figures, both laity and clerics, met to listen to a panel by H.E. the Religious Chief Judge of Palestine, Sheikh Tayseer Al-Tamimi, and an Al-Liqa’s Board of Trustees member and the Executive Editor of Al-Liqa’ Quarterly review, Fr. Dr. Rafiq Khoury, titled “What do we say to our people in this blessed Month of Ramadan”. After listening to the panel and the follow up discussions invitees attended the traditional Ramadan Iftar dinner which was blessed by His Grace the Archbishop Atallah Hanna of the Eastern Orthodox Church.
In their speeches Sheikh Tayseer Al-Tamimi and Fr. Rafiq Khoury stressed the dire need for national unity in light of the June 2007 intra – Palestinian fighting which left the West Bank and Gaza apart. Both, in addition, underlined the distinguished record of Christian-Muslim relations in Palestine which were and still are fully intact despite the ups and downs of Palestinian politics.
