A distinguished cultural evening on the occasion of the launching of a new book titled<\/p>\n
\u201cBook of Evidence on Confirming Faith\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n Sophronius Patriarch of Jerusalem<\/strong><\/p>\n His life, works, and Omar\u2019s Covenant<\/strong><\/p>\n On the 5th of March 2015, at 5 p.m., a distinguished cultural evening was held at the Notre Dame Hotel (LOGOS) Hall on the occasion of the launching of a new book by Al-Liqa\u2019 Center titled: \u201cBook of Evidence on Confirming Faith\u201d Sophronius Patriarch of Jerusalem, His life, works and Omar\u2019s Covenant, study and critical editing by Dr. Geries S. Khoury. Tens of leading personalities from Jerusalem attended this launching which was moderated by Mrs. Nura Karmi of Jerusalem.<\/p>\n Mrs. Katia Emerezian organized this launching and she was helped by al-Liqa, the Sabeel and other organizations in Jerusalem. She welcomed the gathering and stressed that this event symbolizes the unity in this city as seen in the meeting of Sophronius and Caliph Omar.<\/p>\n The speakers included Bishop \u2018Atallah Hanna who focused on Sophronius, Mr. \u2018Azzam Abu S\u2019oud who underlined the importance of Omar\u2019s Covenant while Fr. Dr. Rafiq Khoury talked about the context of the book.<\/p>\n The author, Dr. Geries S. Khoury, summarized the content and the many challenges which faced Sophronius including the historical context of the period.<\/p>\n The governor and minister in charge of Jerusalem, Mr. Adnan Al-Hussaini, spoke as well. He focused in his brief speech on shared living.
